Q: What team should I register for?
Your player’s grade level in the current school year is the first step in determining what team they are eligible for.
All Boys and Girls teams will register based on their grade level.
Q: Why is AYLAX starting the registration process so early?
There is a lot of planning that is already taking place! To determine equipment and uniform needs, schedule games and assign coaches, we need to know how many players we will have next year. The more information AYL has now, the better we can serve you and your team.
Q: When do we start playing?
Boy's youth practices will begin the first week of February, with games beginning the first weekend in March. Your coach will contact you before February with practice times and locations.
Girl’s youth practices will start the last week of February, with games beginning third weekend in March.
Taking Care of Business Day will be sometime in January for Boys and February for Girls, dates TBD! This is the day you get to meet your coach and teammates, receive notification about practice dates and locations, buy spirit wear, purchase your uniform, etc!
Q: When are practices and games?
AYL is currently trying to firm up field commitments, which will dictate practices schedules. The board will have more information on practice schedules at our informational Taking Care of Business Day in January, more information to follow in a later email. Youth teams generally have two practices during the week and a game on the weekend.
Q: What equipment will I need to play?
Boy's youth players need to purchase is a stick, a mouth guard, cleats, and a protective cup!
If you do not own equipment, AYL will rent protective equipment free of charge, this includes a helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads and gloves) for the first two years they play lacrosse with AYL. We will also provide custom-fit mouthguards (courtesy of one of our sponsors). Please be sure to include equipment rental in the registration process. To assure that equipment is returned in good condition and in a timely manner, a $50 post-dated deposit check will be collected when equipment is checked out. The check will not be cashed and will be returned to you when equipment is checked in at the end of the season.
Girls youth players may want to purchase a stick, girls lacrosse goggles, cleats, and a mouth guard. We will have some girls gear available for (free) rent as well.
All protective equipment listed above is required to participate in practice and games.
